Jennifer Van Keppel practices in the areas of Special Needs Planning, Estate Planning, Estate Administration (Probate), Guardianships, and Adoptions. Jennifer is a family guardian for her young adult stepson with special needs, who lives at home with her and her husband. She knows firsthand the blessings and challenges that accompany the role of guardian, and it brings her great joy to help other families with children with special needs to navigate the transition into young adulthood and beyond.
A 1995 graduate of Indiana University Robert H. McKinney School of Law in Indianapolis, Jennifer has primarily worked at small civil practices. For two years, Jennifer served as the Managing Attorney of the Neighborhood Christian Legal Clinic, a not-for-profit organization and Low Income Tax Clinic that serves clients throughout Central Indiana. In 2015, she began Van Keppel Law, LLC.
After graduating from Purdue University’s School of Chemical Engineering in 1990, Jennifer began her career at Westinghouse. After law school, she worked in environmental engineering consulting, utilizing her dual careers to provide consulting services for Fortune 500 companies.
Jennifer has served on the Board of Directors of the Indianapolis chapters of Christian Legal Society and Federalist Society. She served for many years on the Board of the Indianapolis Respect Academy, a Christian pre-school. In 2009, she was appointed by Indianapolis Mayor Ballard to the Indianapolis/Marion County Metropolitan Board of Zoning Appeals, and she often chaired the monthly BZA meetings until she resigned in 2016. She is a member of the Indiana State Guardianship Association.
The Van Keppel family, including Jennifer, her husband Gary, and their son Austin, participate in the Indiana University Purdue University Indianapolis (IUPUI) International Host Program, welcoming foreign students to the United States. She attends College Park Church.
