Lorna J. Drope is a tax and estate planning attorney with over 18 years of experience. She is licensed to practice law in California, Nevada, and Arizona and holds a Master of Laws in Taxation, Lorna which she received, cum laude from the University of San Diego in 2002.

Lorna's primary focus is special needs planning & estate planning and limited conservatorship for families with loved ones with disabilities. She assists families in preserving and maximizing needs-based governmental benefits, such as Supplemental Security Income (SSI) and Medi-Cal. She also works with families to maximize the quality of life for loved ones with disabilities and to protect them from harm and exploitation from potential predators.

Lorna donates a significant amount of time to local non-profit organizations serving the special needs community. She currently serves as Chairman of the Board of Directors for 2 non-profits serving the Bay Area special needs community: Angels on Stage, a theatre troupe of children with differing abilities; and Special Kids Crusade in Monterey County. Lorna also recently started an organization called the Bay Area Professionals Special Needs Network whose mission is to collaborate, educate & serve within the special needs community. In addition, she previously served on the Board of Directors for PACE & Pacific Autism Center for Education, and on the San Jose Disability Awareness Day and Disability Awareness Night committees.

Prior to opening her own practice, Lorna was tax attorney/tax consultant for several high profile organizations, including the international public accounting firm Arthur Andersen LLP and my CFO, Inc., a wealth management services firm. Her primary focus was the development, and implementation of tax planning strategies for high net worth individuals, including wealth accumulation, wealth preservation, and wealth transfer planning techniques. She also spent a significant amount of time in the implementation and management of charitable planning strategies, including private foundations, supporting organizations, donor advised funds and charitable remainder/lead trusts.

Lorna is a mid-western girl, born and raised in Michigan. She received her Bachelor of Science degree in Biopsychology from the University of Michigan in 1992. She attended both the University of Michigan Law School and Pepperdine University School of Law, receiving her J.D. in 1995. In December 2002, Ms. Drope received her LL.M. in taxation, cum laude, from the University of San Diego. She lives in San Jose with her two furry faced friends, Finnegan and MoMo.
