Expertise and empathy are descriptors Claudia hopes are the takeaways for anyone she has had the chance to work with in providing legal services.  Whether assisting a client or collaborating with another attorney, financial consultant, or industry expert, her goal is always to achieve the client’s objectives. The practice of Elder Law–transitions in lifestyle and managing the accompanying financial impact–are  core concerns when a client talks with Maine Elder Law Attorneys, P.A. To be of value in this practice area requires a high degree of expertise balanced against life experience. At the end of the day, the practice is about individuals.

After more than ten years as a registered nurse and with a passion to problem solve, Claudia returned to law school earning her J.D. at the University of Arizona in 1987. Always looking for the next intellectual challenge, she earned an LLM in tax from the University of Florida in 1989. She has practiced in both large and boutique law firm settings for the last thirty years.

In 2019, with a desire to build and continue practicing a profession that is incredibly rewarding, she combined her experience in healthcare and the legal world to establish Raessler Law, P.A. Her firm became the first Maine member of the Life Care Planning Law Firm Association, a national organization focused on the continuum of needs facing seniors.

With a focus on growing Elder Law services using both in-person and technology-driven resources, she expanded to form Maine Elder Law Attorneys, P.A.(MELA) with a Wellness Coordinator on staff to provide additional leadership and expertise in this area. MELA provides ancillary services that complement the legal needs of seniors and those individuals engaged in a life planning process.

When she is not practicing law, Claudia is an avid reader and traveler (pre-COVID), known to binge watch almost any Netflix mystery series and working on maintaining connections with family spread across the U.S. There is a rumor she is going to try her hand at tapestry weaving in 2022.If you want to start a conversation with her outside of law, ask her about textiles!
