Lillian Hummel
Fierst & Fink, PC

Lilly’s work focuses on elder and disability law, as well on estate planning and administration. Her legal services support individuals and their loved ones navigating long-term care, including eligibility for Medicaid and other public benefits and transitioning to senior living such as nursing homes and assisted living communities. Lilly also represents clients in guardianship matters.
She is licensed in Maryland, the District of Columbia, and Wisconsin. Lilly is an active member of the Maryland/DC Chapter of the National Academy of Elder Law Attorneys. She serves on the chapter’s workgroup to improve access to Medicaid home - and community-based services in Maryland. She is also a member of the Bar Association of Montgomery County, the Maryland State Bar Association, and the District of Columbia Bar. She has a J.D. and a Master of Public Affairs from the University of Wisconsin-Madison. She has a B.A. in Political Science from Carleton College.
Lilly brings a unique perspective to her law practice after 10 years working as a Medicare and Medicaid policy researcher. Prior to joining Fierst & Fink, she focused on long-term care policy issues from a variety of perspectives, including as a policy director for a national trade association, a consultant for health care providers, and an analyst at the federal Government Accountability Office. She has expertise understanding how Medicare, Medicaid, and other benefits work (and don’t work) for seniors, people with disabilities, and caregivers.
Originally from the upper Midwest, Lilly traded lake life for shore weekends when work brought her to Washington DC. Outside of work, Lilly can be found hiking with her family in Montgomery County parks, cooking, and golfing.
