Barbara has been a Financial Advisor since 2001. She joined Shufro Rose LLC in 2006 and co-manages the Kaminsky-Silverman Group with Tonia Kaminsky.

Through Goals-Based Wealth Management, Barbara and Tonia help clients understand and prioritize their financial goals and then help them invest their assets to maximize the chances of reaching their objectives. They recognize that living with a Special Needs dependent can profoundly impact a families' finances, and it is essential to incorporate proper Special Needs Planning into a comprehensive financial plan. As needed, Barbara and Tonia often lead a team outside lawyers, accountants, and insurance specialists, for their clients.

After years navigating the special needs landscape for her own son, as well as for a number of clients, Barbara earned her Chartered Special Needs Consultant ® designation in 2020.

Barbara received her B.A. in Government and Russian Area Studies from Dartmouth College in 1989 and her M.A. in Policy Studies from the University of Michigan in 1991. She earned her Chartered Financial Analyst designation in 1999 and became a CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™ professional in 2019. Before joining Shufro Rose, Barbara was a Principal at Rosenblum Silverman Sutton, a registered investment adviser and a vice president at Arnhold and S. Bleichroeder.

Barbara lives in New York City with her husband Alex, their two sons, and their labradoodle Willie. She loves traveling with her family.
