One in five people in the U.S. will have some type of special need or disability in their lifetime, according to the USDA. Whether Down syndrome, autism or a genetic disorder, it may affect their entire lives without the hope of a cure. Or it may develop due to an accident, catastrophic illness and cognitive decline from aging.
Many of those with special needs are children. If you’re the parent of a child with special needs, your mission is to help your child live a life that is as rich and full as possible.
I am passionate about helping such parents manage their financial futures for one very simple reason: I am the mother of a daughter with special needs.
I have also authored a white paper, “Charting the Right Course,” addressing the key financial challenges for parents of children with special needs.
