Arla D. Cahill is a member of the firm’s Litigation Department and Education Law and Special Needs Practice Groups. Arla’s business law practice includes employment, contracts, intellectual property, banking, data privacy, and estate and fiduciary contests. Over the course of her career, Arla has successfully obtained injunctive relief to protect businesses against trade secret misappropriation, trademark infringement, and unfair competition. Arla also has more than a decade of experience representing lenders in complex, multi-million dollar commercial foreclosures.
In addition, Arla has a passion for helping families and is on the Executive Committee of Employment Horizons, Inc., and a member of the Council of Parent Attorneys and Advocates (COPAA) and Autism New Jersey. As a seasoned litigator for 20 years and a former school board attorney and charter school board member, Arla has gained unique insight into the public education system and the challenges that face parents of special needs children who require services and accommodations under the Individuals with Disabilities Act (IDEA) and Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act. For more than a decade, Arla has worked collaboratively with parents to ensure that their child receives instruction and accommodations individually tailored to the student’s needs to help them make and maintain progress toward their social, emotional and academic goals, from early learning environments through higher education opportunities. Arla’s practice also includes guardianship proceedings and protection of both regular and special education students’ civil rights in school-based disciplinary actions.
