Profession LogoATTORNEY

At Ashton Horton Mullins Law (AHM) we are a woman owned and operated legal team that practices in the areas of family law, guardianship/ conservatorship, probate and trust administration, estate planning, special needs planning, Medicaid planning, and elder law.

We are here for our clients in the good times and the bad.  We use our unique combination of practice areas to help our clients come up with creative solutions to the issues that they face, in planning or litigation. Whether you are worried about providing for the long-term care of a vulnerable family member or facing litigation in family law, probate, or guardianship and conservatorship, we strive to provide our clients with a sense of relief, knowing that they are working with an experienced professional.  Our favorite thing about being lawyers is when our clients leave our office with the feeling that a weight has been lifted from their shoulders. The attorneys at AHM Law all have strong trial and litigation backgrounds. We are uniquely prepared to assist clients with the most complicated family law scenarios such as: death during divorce, divorce and incapacity, divorce and Medicaid, and divorce with special needs kiddos.  We serve our clients who are in family conflict and litigation of all kinds. We pride ourselves in helping our clients decide when a strong litigation response is in their best interest and when calm de-escalation and problem solving is the better path toward their goals. We know how emotionally exhausting and stressful divorce, custody, incapacity, and post-death conflict can be for families going through those experiences.  We treat all of our clients with the compassion, comfort, and dignity they deserve when going through the hardest times of life.

We are also all moms and/or step-moms who know how important planning for the wellbeing of families can be. A little planning can save a lot of future heartache, and we want our clients to know that we are listening and brainstorming with them. We work with our clients to create holistic estate plans including Wills, Trusts, Powers of Attorney (or Living Wills), Transfer on Death Deeds, beneficiary designations, and other tools to take care of families during their lives and after their deaths.

We provide clients education and resources for each of our practice areas.  We love talking to the parents of children with special needs and disabilities about special needs trusts, ABLE accounts, public benefits, and independence measures. Many of us are taking care of kids and providing care for our older relatives at the same time. We are happy to sit down with you and brainstorm issues that range from how to make sure Mom is safe and her care is paid for, to how to convince Dad to stop driving, and everything in between. We encourage our clients who are considering marriage or divorce to educate themselves on community and separate property considerations.

AHM Law provides a full range of settlement facilitation and mediation services in both English and Spanish.
